If autism was a book, it would be an encyclopedia.

There’s a saying that if you’ve met one person with autism–you’ve met ONE person with autism. When it comes to navigating autism, each child presents with different strengths, challenges, and strokes of brilliance. My job is to translate my experience with children into a game plan of strategies, taking into account individual preferences and developmental differences. In short, autism doesn’t have a roadmap. But we’re going to create a path for your child to make steps in the right direction.

FAQ:

What would I initially expect?

At your home, I would observe your child and get to know your hopes and expectations for establishing “flow” in routines. I would be assessing communication, engagement, behavior and sensory concerns. Given your input, I would draft a report that summarizes your child’s profile, and make recommendations for specific strategies. On subsequent visits, we would put the strategies into practice while further exploring your child’s strengths.

How many visits should I expect?

My goal is to empower families to be confident and comfortable working with their child. Ideally, I would like to be present with families over the course of 4 to 6 weeks and be available after that time for follow-up as needed. My service model is that of a consultative-collaborative partnership where parents take the lead role in their child’s development.

What is your location service area?

I provide services in Seminole County and East Orange County, Florida in home. Due to the active learning needs of children, I do not provide telehealth.

Do you take insurance?

While I do not take insurance, I am able to provide a bill of medical necessity as a licensed provider for use with HSA/FSA funds. I am also a provider for the Step-Up For Students scholarship.

What other services do you offer?

Many young children with autism respond positively to music (that’s a book in itself). I use music, singing and instruments as a primary way to engage children–especially those children who have limited verbal language.

What’s your experience with autism?

Since 2007, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including six years in a private school for autism. My trainings include Autism Navigator through FSU, Greenspan Floortime, and ongoing continuing education in sensory integration, emotional regulation and play-based assessment. I also have a neurodivergent daughter who has inspired me to learn as much as possible to meet her unique needs.
